2–4pm @ Location to be Announced, within the Portland Metro area
In late winter and early spring, many edible greens begin to emerge, such as stinging nettle and dandelion. Let's celebrate them by learning about their cultural histories, how to encourage their growth, what roles they play in ecology, how to process and prepare them, and of course, how to eat them and what nutritional value they bring. We’ll also cover the history of foraging ethics, why things are changing, and exciting ways to continue the life cycles of the plants we know and love. Come join us and sample some yummy stinging nettle tea! You'll leave this talk feeling more confident about what over harvesting is and how to approach your foraging in a thoughtful way, respecting not only the grow cycles of these plants but also respecting the cultures in which they play a vital role. We'll share a handout as well with these guidelines. book recommendations, and a recipe!
Keep an eye out for an event reminder email which will provide details about the location, parking, and other handy logistical details to ensure you are prepared for class and have a great experience!
