Summary

Saturday, April 18
2–4pm @ Location to be Announced, within the Portland Metro area

In this class we will cover the most important priorities that determine whether an outdoor outing stays enjoyable or turns into an emergency. We will focus on prevention first, including lost proofing and situational awareness, and then explore what to do if something goes wrong. Topics include practical shelter strategy, clothing and warmth considerations, fire and water priorities, and decision making under stress.

This knowledge is something everyone should have. No one plans on being in a survival situation. Participants will leave with a clear, modern framework for staying calm, thinking critically, and increasing their chances of getting home safely.

About the instructor: Jared Sessions is a Portland-based wilderness skills instructor and certified Wilderness First Responder.
